In Windows 11, the Taskbar is present at the bottom center. This is different from Windows 10 Operating System. The Taskbar In Windows 11 is more efficient and easier to access. This new OS also lets you customize many settings related to the Taskbar. You can also hide it from the screen.

How To Hide Taskbar In Windows 11?

You can follow the steps below to hide the Taskbar and get even more space on the screen.

Step 1: You need to right-click on the Taskbar. Click on the space on the sides of the Taskbar or between the icons. Do not click on the icons.

Step 2: In the tiny menu, you will see Taskbar Settings. Click on it.

Step 3: The Personalization section of the Settings app will open up. In the right pane of the window, navigate to Taskbar Behaviours.

Step 4: If you hover your cursor over the option, it will expand, showing further setting options. Close to the bottom of the screen, you will find an option saying Automatically Hide the Taskbar.

Step 5: Check the box next to this option.

This will hide the Taskbar from your screen.

However, you will notice a thin line at the extreme bottom of your screen. If you hover your cursor over this line, Taskbar will show. The Taskbar will be hidden if you move the cursor away from the line.

If for some reason, following these steps is not hiding the Taskbar, you might need to look into some quick fixes. Below is a list of things you can look into if the Taskbar in your device is not hiding.

1. Unattended App Notifications

Taskbar might not hide if a bunch of notifications from different apps are pending to be noticed. If you do see that you have unattended notifications for apps, please click on the apps so that all the messages can be marked seen.

Once you have checked notifications of all apps, you can try the process above of hiding Taskbar again and check if it works.

2. Disable App Notifications

If a specific app or a few apps push out notifications very often, they interact with the Taskbar more. This might cause the Taskbar not to hide since the apps are always in touch presenting new notifications.

You can try disabling notifications of any such apps and see if it makes a difference. You can follow the method below to do so.

  • Open Settings App from the Start Menu. You can also press Windows + I to do the same.
  • In the Settings app window, click on Personalization. You will find this option in the left pane of the screen.
  • Select Taskbar Behaviour.
  • Uncheck the box next to the ‘Show badges (unread messages counter) on taskbar apps’ option.

This will successfully stop the apps from sending heavy notifications at once. You can also open the app in question, check its notification settings. If possible, disable notifications from the app settings too.
