In addition to this, the service provider offers many benefits like longer-validity packs for its consumers. Jio also provides portability from other telecom company providers to its prepaid and postpaid services.

Documents Required For The Porting Process

1. Address prooffor porting your number from Airtel to Jio SIM, you will require an address proof which can be either- Aadhar card/Pan card/ Voter ID/ Driving license.

2. A passport-sized photograph of you will also be needed to port the number.

When making the portability request by the MNP service, an existing SIM card network must be used for more than 90 days. After that, only the user can apply for mobile number portability. Thus, the request cannot be processed if the mobile number has recently been ported to the current network.

How To Port Airtel To Jio Through Website?

Jio provides you doorstep delivery of the new SIM card if you don’t want to visit any offline store. Keep your address proof and identity proof in your hand for the procedure. The online booking of Jio SIM is right now limited to only postpaid connections.

–  go to Jio’s official website and enter your full name along with your ten-digit phone number.

Next, press the “Generate OTP” button.

–  you will get a six-digit One-Time-Password (OTP) from the company on your phone as a text message.

 now, enter that number to validate the OTP by hitting on the validate OTP button

 after this, the site will take you to a page where you will be asked to enter your address details. You have to provide your complete address, including your locality, PIN Code, flat/house number, and landmark.

 Click on the Confirm button and select the tab to submit your SIM delivery request.

Soon, you will receive a call from the Jio executives to schedule an appointment to deliver the new SIM. Ask that executive about the MNP (Mobile Number Portability) facility and create a UPC (Unique Porting Code) by sending a “Port” text message followed by your 10-digit mobile number in 1900.

How To Port Airtel To Jio Using My Jio App?

You can also port your Airtel number through the MyJio app. For this, you have to follow the following steps-

 –  open the MyJio app and select the “Not a Jio User?” option.

 you will see a pop-up with an option of port-in to Jio.

 the Jio app will now ask you to submit your full name and a 10-digit mobile number.

 after entering your complete details and phone number, tap on the “Generate OTP” option.

 Now, you will have to submit a form that includes details like your delivery location, including your locality, Pin code, and house number.

select the Confirm button after you enter the details in the form.

After this, you will get a call from Jio customer care to confirm your delivery address for your new SIM. At that time, you have to ask them about the MNP facility and mention whether you need a Jio prepaid or postpaid network connection.

How To Port Airtel To Jio Offline?

You can port your existing Airtel number to Jio number through offline steps-

First, you need to generate a UPC by sending an SMS message “Port” followed by your mobile number to 1900. Next, you will get a text message from 1901 with the UPC and its expiry date.

you will have to visit your nearest  Jio store or retailer shop along with your UPC and your address and identity proof.

To port your existing Airtel number to Jio, you will need to first clear all your pending dues with your current network service if you have enabled a postpaid connection. However, if you are changing your prepaid connection, make sure your prepaid balance is not carried forward to your Jio number, and you will have to sacrifice the balance amount. 

If you port your phone number in the same locality, your number will be activated within three working days. But, if your network is in another telecom circle, it might take up to five days. However, your mobile network service will not be interrupted in that period.

Any porting request from Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, and  North East can take up to 12-15 working days for processing your request. But, the service will not be interrupted in that period.

When the MNP of your mobile number has transferred successfully, you will stop receiving any network signal on your Airtel connection. This will be informed by an SMS telling you that the porting is taking place at this particular date and time. The SMS will also include a PIN of five digits for tele-verification on your Jio number. 

At the end, when the porting completes, remove your Airtel SIM card and replace it with your JIo SIM and submit the five-digit PIN on your alternate number to activate your Jio connection.
